What Do We Do Now
What do we do now? That's the question Robert Redford's character asked after winning in "The Candidate".
And that is the question we are asking now. Senator Obama has succesfully mobilized us all to be a part of the campaign. We now want you to be a part of the administration. We ask you to submit grassroots ideas on key issues, so that we can keep the momentum going once Senator Obama becomes President.
This is how it works:
Senator Obama has outlined key issues for his first 100 days in office:
Troop withdrawals from Iraq, health care access for all
On Iraq, Senator Obama said, the public should expect within 100 days of taking office that he would convene the Joint Chiefs of Staff to devise a plan for withdrawing troops from Iraq.
He also set a goal of proposing legislation on his promise of affordable health care coverage available for all quickly upon arriving in the White House.
But the question remains: what do we do now?
What do we do, now that we know troops will be coming home?
What do we do to help them transition back into normal life?
What do we do now, in order to ensure that affordable healt care is a priority for local leaders within our community?
We feel that in order to be as effective as possible, we need to focus. Senator Obama will fight in Washington on these issues and more. We should focus on our communities to help the fight in Washington. Be it personal action, political action, legal action.
Got ideas on these issues? Let us know. Think we are focusing on the wrong issues? Let us know. Got some information that could help us or others learn more about the issues? Let us know.
That's it, no more no less. Just a reminder that we do not campaign to win an election, we campaign to govern and to change things. So go and vote, but remember to follow up.
WDWDnow is an unoffical initiative that aims to keep momentum going on key issues during governement transition and the first 100 days of the next presidency.
